I got the Globe and Mail today for the style section, and it had a great article about a local cake designer and she said something in the article that hit home with me. So I wanted to share it with you! Lori Hutchinson "The Caketress" is known for her unique style, she has been encouraging brides all over the GTA to not just do a traditional wedding cake but a cake that matches their wedding and expresses who they are as a couple! In a world that is mass produced she has found that niche that individuals are looking for..."I will not do it (referring to multiplying custom cakes) because that's someone else's, it's reflected their style, their day" quote taken from the Globe and Mail.
I love how many of her cakes are inspired by fashion elements...
I have been wanting to do this mini photo shoot for awhile... have been waiting for a nice sunny day! Finally today I got a gorgeous day... although a bit chilly! These are my favourite rings in my jewellery box right now along with my new favourite necklaces!
Today the beau and I had to visit the ol' kensington market.. and I had no complaints!! Vintage finds are the best! The outfit for the day was super fun... but I hate winter because you have to cover up all the beautiful clothes!
Gold vintage belt, with great belt buckle detail... found last summer at a vintage shop!
My parrots were found last summer as well at a great vintage shop, the longer link necklace was a great gift from my aunt, from the etsy shop.. lavien, love, love, love all his pieces!!
An essential for Canadian fashion is a great winter jacket because you where it ALL the time! Thank you goodness I love this one!!!
Wandering around Kensington is always fun, heading back this Saturday to find more people with unique outfits!! Enjoy...
My amazing friend has an incredible sense of style and this is a bit of a wish list for her. She is an avid follower of many blogs and these are items she is wishing for or places she is wishing to go. She is a total fashion inspiration for me! Enjoy...
Before x-mas I had the pleasure of working with a lovely woman who was wanting a dress made for her wedding. The other day she sent me a photo of their lovely day, they both look so good, congrats to the happy couple! Enjoy!!!
Today was a very eventful day! I started my research on which fabrics will be in my collection, I didn't even make it through half of the stores on Queen St. and as you can see below there is lots of fabric to search through, but so far so good!
Hopeful this week I will have my final picks up for all to see! My wonderful day continued with going to the movies to see Tom Ford's 'A Single Man", which I have been dying to see!
It was an incredible love story that had a beautiful ending. I can't wait to read the book now! My favourite part of the whole movie was how each frame of the movie could be a photograph, it was so gorgeous! Although I am not surprised, considering Tom Ford always looks beautifully put together. He has an impeccable style and that translates into his film perfectly!
And my wonderful day drew to a beautiful end much like the movie, it was snowing huge snowflakes when we left the theatre! I am hoping the snow sticks around for a photo shoot this week!! Enjoy!
Although last night wasn't the most exciting Golden Globes I have ever seen, it did have some interesting moments and despite the rain some gorgeous gowns! My 2 favourite moments were anytime Ricky Gervais was on stage (especially when he was drinking his beer!) and when Colin Farrel said 'balls' on the Golden Globe stage! Here were some of my favourite leading ladies...
Despite the rain these ladies put their best foot forward and they all looked exceptional! Christina Aguilera looked like her Versace gown was sculpted to fit her and while presenting she looked amazing! Amy Poehler and Amy Adams looked impossible adorable, while Jennifer Garner and Emily Blunt looked like red carpet classics. Sigourney Weaver and Sandra Bullock looked spectacular in their colour choices and Anna Paquin looked like a rock star! Cruz and Ainston looked flawless in black and Kristen Bell was brave to wear the white but it looked fabulous!
My all time favourite of the night were the lovelies above... Nicole Kidman looked ravishing in her Nina Ricci, this gorgeously draped dress looked formed for her body! The beautiful colour complimented her skin and hair! The lovely Jane Krakowski looked stellar in my favourite colour this year... royal purple! As stated earlier in my blog, J. Mendel's collection is my favourite this year and was an excellent choice for Jane!
I was so looking forward to seeing what Zoe Saldana would wear and I have to say I am on the fence about it. This Louis Vuitton piece looks incredible on the top and the strapless is beautiful on her, but the bottom I just can't decide whether I love it or hate it... what do you think?
These were the misses for me, which I am really disappointed about. It never bothers me with people I am not fans of ... but Diane Kruger normally has excellent style as well as Christina Hendricks. It's too bad, but unfortunately these ladies are on the miss list this year.
These were my favourite couples this year! Jon Hamm always looks dashing and there was no exception here. While Jeff Bridges went all in black and it suits him, and of course Heidi and Seal who I always love!
Ok so it is finally here the GOLDEN GLOBES!!!! I do adore watching the red carpet and all the beautiful dresses! The lovelies I am looking forward to the most is... Jon Hamm, who always looks so debonair in a tuxedo, Amy Adams who is impossible adorable and Zoe Saldana the star of Avatar. She is extremely glamourous and I have high hopes for their wardrobe choices tonight~
